The liability of raw material manufacturers: it's time to restate the Restatement
Article Abstract:
Raw material manufacturers may be liable in products liability suits if the maker of the finished product of which their raw material is a part has gone bankrupt. The Restatement (Second) of Torts does not negate the legitimacy of such lawsuit and Section 402A should be revised so that strict liability applies to the raw material manufacturer only when this material remains dangerous from the time of manufacturing until consumption.
