The relationship between outcomes in collective bargaining and teachers' decisional participation state
Article Abstract:
Independent school districts in Oklahoma were surveyed for information on collective bargaining practices there. The participation of teachers in the collective bargaining process in nine districts which had negotiated contracts and nine which had not was compared. The extent of teacher participation and the bargaining results did not seem to be related, with teachers deprived of substantial input in both districts which had and those which had not negotiated contracts. The strength of the contracts was not significantly connected to the extent of teacher participation.

The future direction of public over private: the power and strength of collective negotiating
Article Abstract:
The public educational sector is being threatened by private education, and the former must act on two fronts, teachers' colleges and the schools themselves. Not only would collective action help in improving teachers' colleges support services, it would also attract more and better student teachers and improve their working conditions. Collective action is the best option for teachers' colleges in the public sector.
