The ten best companies to work for in America
Article Abstract:
Milton Moskowitz and Robert Levering, authors of 'The 100 Best Companies to Work for in America,' have completed an update of their 1984 work. They surveyed some 400 companies based on six criteria: salary and benefits, opportunities for promotion, job security, job satisfaction, intracorporate communication and camaraderie among employees. They also singled out the 10 best US companies to work for. These are Boston's Beth Israel Hospital, Delta Air Lines, Donnelly Corp, Federal Express, Fel-Pro, Hallmark Cards, Publix Super Markets, Rosenbluth Travel, Southwest Airlines and USAA.

Can companies trust their employees?
Article Abstract:
The ideal workplace has both commodity and gift exchanges. In a commodity exchange, one party gives something, forty hours of work for instance, and receives something of about the same value, the paycheck. Gift exchanges rely on trust. By trusting employees, an employer tells them that they are a crucial part of the company and that management and employees are a team. Evidence of appropriate rewards for work and giving employees more control build trust.
