To the rescue; organizing the bar to support solo and small-firm practitioners
Article Abstract:
Low percentages of ABA membership among sole practitioners and small firm lawyers show a concern in this segment of the legal community that the ABA is not meeting their needs. The ABA sponsored a forum in spring 1993 to learn more about what the organized bar can do for these lawyers. Speakers suggested that the priorities of bar groups and sole practitioners and small-firm lawyers often differ. Complaints included bar assn opposition to advertising not recognizing marketing needs of small firm lawyers and the need for various support services for this segment of the legal community.
