Trash, ash, and the phoenix: a fifth anniversary review of the Supreme Court's City of Chicago waste-to-energy combustion ash decision

The author discusses the effect of the Supreme Court's 1994 decision in City of Chicago v. Environmental Defense Fund, Inc. that waste-to-energy facilities must test WTE combustion ash for toxic hazards under the EPA-administered Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.

Airport noise pollution: is there a solution in sight?
Article Abstract:
Traditional federal and state law aimed at preventing airport noise pollution are discussed, along with land use and noise compatibility planing measures used by local governments. Additional measures aimed at abating the problem are suggested.
