Unemployment compensation benefits for employees who voluntarily leave: a human resource manager's guide
Article Abstract:
Employers should focus on communicating with employees and avoiding certain situations to minimize the possibility that employees that leave voluntarily can claim unemployment insurance. A showing of good cause for leaving can result in unemployment benefits being allowed. The employee would have to demonstrate a substantial, unilateral change in working conditions imposed by the employer, a health problem with the work or the workplace, or other actions taken by the employer that justify the employee's resignation.
