Updating RU486 development
Article Abstract:
The drug RU 486 can be used for abortion due to its antiprogesterone action, and taking a small amount of prostaglandin like Misoprostol at the same time will hasten the process. RU 486's advantages are the low number of infections and other complications since abortion by drug administration is a non-invasive procedure. Medical supervision is essential. RU 486 may also be useful for other diseases such as breast cancer and endometriosis. In late 1992, the drug could be sold in France, Britain and China.

Article Abstract:
Licensed California obstetrician-gynecologists were surveyed for their opinions on RU 486. Names were randomly chosen from the California Medical Ass'n's computer database and an anonymous opinion survey was mailed. The response rate was 31%. The survey shows that a majority of obstetrician-gynecologists in the state has confidence in the RU 486 research already conducted and feels that the drug should be available for further research and clinical practice.

Introduction of abortion technologies: a quality of care management approach
Article Abstract:
The administration of RU-486/prostaglandin as an abortifacient must take place with a patient-centered approach which asks whether the drug's use will improve the patient's quality of care and how this goal can best be accomplished. Considerations involved in addressing the quality of care issue are appropriate technology, both the technical skills and communication skills of the staff and the set-up for post-abortion care.
