How best to plan for foreign assets in a U.S. estate
Article Abstract:
Estate planners must carefully consider the optimum strategy to include foreign assets in an American estate. Countries have different legal systems to consider, such as British common law or French civil law traditions. Besides the laws of the particular foreign country, any tax treaties with the US and that country must be considered. Minimization of death taxes in other countries is also discussed.
