Corporate ethics practices in the mid-1990's: an empirical study of the Fortune 1000
Article Abstract:
Corporate ethics practices in the mid-1990s were examined via an empirical study of Fortune 1000 firms. Among the aspects of formalized corporate ethics activity studied are ethics-oriented policy statements, formalization of management responsibilities for ethics and evaluation of ethics program activities. The results suggested that generally a form of ethics-oriented company policies is adopted by major American corporations. However, firms differ in the extent to which such policies are supported by ethics-specific personnel, structures and activities.
