Harold Sanford Kant has been general counsel of the Grateful Dead rock band since the 1970s, and since Kant insists on the group's retention of its music publishing rights intellectual property accounts for much of his practice. Kant helps with the protection of the Dead's property while maintaining a sense of community with its fans. The merchandising end of the business does $50-60 mil a year worth of business, selling various Dead memorabilia.
