Y2K landscape in 1999
Article Abstract:
Y2K lawsuits are, as of late 1998, appearing more frequently. The first Y2K case involving an insurance company's policy obligations , Cincinnati Insurance Co. v. Source Data Systems, Inc., was filed Dec 4, 1998. The insurance company is seeking a declaratory judgment that it is not obliged to cover the cost of installing a new computer system for Pineville Community Hospital, one of the defendants. By early December 12 multinational corporations had signed a pledge to mediate rather than litigate Y2K disputes.
