Article Abstract:
Michael Jackson, controller of BBC2, has been responsible for a number of successful commissioning and scheduling moves, and this has brought him into direct conflict with John Willis, director of programmes at Channel 4. He has a programme budget of only 180 million pounds sterling, but has been able to increase BBC2's audience share to 11.2%, slightly ahead of Channel 4. Most recently, BBC2 has enjoyed ratings success with 'Our Friends in the North,' a 7 million pounds sterling drama.
