BSkyB holds line on football PPV
Article Abstract:
BSkyB is waiting for the decision of the Premier League regarding the issue of pay-per-view (PPV) broadcasting rights to football games. In May 1998, the broadcaster made an offer for the rights to air a handful of football games on a PPV basis, but the league rejected the offer because of the complexity of the PPV formula and fears about the response of audiences to the new method of paying. The talks has stalled and BSkyB has made no move to resume negotiations. In the meantime, the Premier League will have to decide whether waiting for its current pay-TV deal with BSkyB to expire in 2001 is sensible while other ball clubs are venturing into PPV.

Dangers of a phoney debate
Article Abstract:
