Baxter to give first TV interview
Article Abstract:
Watchmaker Productions has announced that the reclusive comedian Stanley Baxter will appear in an ITV Christmas special to have his first in-depth TV interview. The 72-year-old Baxter, who was a star of many big-budget entertainment shows such as The Stanley Baxter Show and The Stanley Baxter Moving Pictures Show, was persuaded by the company's Karen Steyn, who produced and directed Stanley Baxter in Person, over other bidders. The hour-long show, which will include clips of Baxter's past performances as well as accolades from other comedians, was given the go-ahead by Claudia Rosencrantz, ITV's controller of entertainment.

Bazal and Celador in battle for lottery contract
Article Abstract:
BBC has reportedly asked Bazal to temporarily take over the production of the National Lottery program starting early-1999 until such time a recipient of the contract is chosen. Although no details of the short-term deal have been announced, a confirmed request for Bazal, along with Celador, to submit pilot versions of the Saturday night show has brought the likelihood of a three-month production contract award. Other possibilities for both production companies point to a sharing of the final contract as BBC aims to vary the programs it offers.
