Stuart Carter, the managing director and executive producer of United States based Pioneer Productions, discusses the advantages and disadvantages of using high-definition technology for television program production. A comparative analysis of the HD technology with the existing technologies being used by television broadcasting industry is also presented.

Making the sums add up

Using high definition technology for television program production is certainly going to be more expensive. The discernable costs can be added outright to the production budget. However, there are other costs involved, which surface in due course. Such additional expenses requiring additional provisions in the production budgets are discussed.
