DTT debate bypassing cable
Article Abstract:
Considerable media attention has been given to the bid for digital terrestrial television (DTT) in the UK which involves BSkyB, but very little attention has been given to the rival bid from a group of cable operators. This is surprising, given that cable will have an important impact on the development of DTT. Cable has advantages over DTT and satellite in terms of distribution, and it can be argued that DTT will not provide any services which cannot be provided equally well or even better by cable.
