Development of a standardized DNA database for Chinook salmon
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to develop a standardized database for Chinook salmon. The project was based on the Chinook Technical Committee's need to identify stock composition of Chinook salmon caught in fisheries during oceanic migrations. A total of 13 microsatellite loci that could be reproducibly assayed in laboratories were identified. It is concluded that ongoing coordination and error-checking will be required to ensure the database's integrity.
