Discovery brings BBC closer to TCI
Article Abstract:
BBC Worldwide and Discovery Communications, which is partly-owned by US cable operator Tele-Communications (TCI), are currently negotiating a joint venture which is likely to include the launch of international digital television channels. Discovery is already operating in Asia, Europe and Latin America, broadcasting to 30.5 million subscribers outside the US. The move will help to create closer links between the BBC and TCI.

International push for RAI
Article Abstract:
RAI of Italy, the state broadcaster, is launching a series of co-ventures with other European public broadcasters, such as the BBC in the UK, with the aim of raising its international commercial clout. Thematic channels will be developed in conjunction with the BBC and with France TV. It also has plans to introduce pay-TV channels in Australia, the US and Latin America in a link with Arab Radio TV.
