Article Abstract:
Germany-based Kirch Media joined forces with Italy-based Mediaset to create a huge production entity, Epsilon, which would operate across borders. The two companies hoped the merged entity would turn into the main reference point for large-scale television production in Europe. However, over the last 18 months, the two companies ran into numerous obstacles and our now looking for ways to make the alliance a success.

After a steady decline in viewers for its lottery programmes broadcast on Saturday night on BBC channel, Camelot is entering into deals with other channels, like Challenge TV, to improve its audience ratings. With competition threatening the already waning popularity of its Saturday night shows, BBC is scouting for new ideas.

The benefits of the new trade agreements signed by Pact with BBC, ITV and other commercial broadcasters for smaller television production companies are discussed. The new deals expect to solve the problems of small producers.
