Rough justice
Article Abstract:
Concern is often expressed about violence, sex, bad language or product placement in television programmes, but care should be taken to see all this issues in a wider context, according to director Andy Wilson. The Independent Television Commission (ITC) is encouraging programme makers to be responsible, but wants to set realistic guidelines rather than to act as a censor. However, Wilson accepts that directors and producers should be made to feel responsible for their decisions and should have to face up to public debate.

A tale of two cities
Article Abstract:
There is a perception amongst independent television producers that the UK's three terrestial broadcasters are slanted towards the south. The most important aspect of regional production is its local bias, but mostly the making of regional programs is left to independent producers. In the north-east, the BBC's main regional focus is on news and current affairs, although ITV has a strong tradition of regionally-based broadcasting.
