Global Singer: the BBC's deal with TCI promises a new global network of channels but to make it happen, the corporation has to tie up more than just loose ends
Article Abstract:
The BBC has signed a memorandum of understanding with Tele-Communications Inc (TCI), which will involved BBC Worldwide working with Flextech, a TCI subsidiary, and Discovery Communications. The agreement is believed to be worth about $700-1 billion, and the idea was first put to BBC Worldwide chief executive Bob Phillis some months ago by Tele-Communiations International Inc president and chief operating officer Adam Singer. There are still 500 pages of legal documentation to be reviewed and the outstanding matter of Pearson needs to be resolved.
