Guidelines for the use of fishes in research

The new guidelines will help the scientists and researchers work with Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees (IACUCs). They help the scientist to develop realistic understandings of fish and the many interactions of human activities with fish and the habitats in which they live so that they can produce more accurate data.

Effects of Anthropogenic sounds on fishes
Article Abstract:
The effect of human-generated (anthropogenic) sounds on marine organisms has been of great concern. To systematically explore both behavioral and physiological effects of different types of sounds on a select group of species at different stages of their development, a series of studies need to be conducted.

The history of techniques used to determine the age of fishes since the 17th century is discussed. These techniques involved the use of rings on the scales of fishes and their validity was frequently challenged.
