There is increasing interaction between promotional activity on television and pure advertising, according to Novocom Managing Director Martin Poole, who is also the 1998 Chmn of the Promax UK television promotion and marketing awards. Television broadcasters are aware that marketing work has now become very important as they seek to differentiate themselves from their competitors. The 1998 awards highlight the growing trend towards channel branding rather than promoting individual programmes, according to ITV Commercial and Marketing Director John Hardie.
