UK is presently the foremost user of interactive television worldwide, mainly due to the efforts of Sky TV and BBC. During the recent Olympics, BBC attracted some nine million people to push the red button, setting a new benchmark. However, with other countries entering the field of interactive media, UK needs to adopt more open standards in order to stay ahead in the race.
