Living a little
Article Abstract:
The 24-hour cable channel Live TV costs 2,000 pounds sterling an hour to produce, with the channel's Managing Director Janet Street-Porter claiming the channel is addictive. The channel's agenda is claimed to be set by events in the news, with running orders constantly changing. Cable operators are becoming increasingly interested in taking up the service following just three weeks since its launch. The channel offers regular gossip and news items, live links and studio items. The production team appreciate the freedom and are quickly able to improvise.

Cable lifeline
Article Abstract:
The cable television industry is divided over how exclusive programmes on dedicated television channels are developed. TeleWest and Nynex support BSkyB, while CableTel and other smaller operators want to be able to progress in the multimedia era without BSkyB laying down the law. BSkyB already insists that operators must not run rival pay-TV services if they want programming services.
