The annual Edinburgh International TV Festival is an opportunity for people in the UK television industry to discuss events which have taken place during the previous year and to assess how broadcasting will change in the future. The festival attracts over 1,500 delegates during a weekend which costs up to 1 million pounds sterling. The festival will cover topics ranging from coverage of the funeral of Diana, the Princess of Wales to the implications of allowing court cases to be televised.

A strong constitution?
Article Abstract:
The Scottish television industry is hoping to increase the number of commissions it receives as a direct result of devolution, which takes place in June 1999. The introduction of a Scottish parliament is expected to increase interest in Scottish-based programming, leading to increased opportunities for the industry to prove itself. The British Broadcasting Corporation is expected to increase funding for its independent BBC Scotland station.
