The transfer of ownership of shows from broadcaster to producer has created two potential dangers: first the transfer of rights also means transfer of risks, and the rights may mean nothing in terms of cash value. Distributors are coming forward to fund programmes and the need for a healthy distribution economy highlights the simple fact that there is a relation between financial risk and financial return.
