Article Abstract:
The religious affairs department of the BBC in Manchester, England, showed strong interest immediately in the three-part series written by Roger Bolton and Peter Stanford around the latter's 1996 work 'The Devil: A Biography.' This became 'The Devil: An Unauthorised Biography' for television. Ben Fox and Jill Marshall were selected as producer/directors, and a budget of 140,000 pounds sterling was set. With a limited budget, Marshall made extensive use of stills and shot some stills herself on location.
