Ofcom sounds out radio players

Ofcom is an evidence-based organization whose task is to withdraw from regulation where it's not necessary. The first thing Ofcom should be doing is looking at competition issues and the BBC and just rein the BBC in from areas it shouldn't be involved; secondly the BBC should come under the direction of Ofcom.

Referring to the controversy over ITVEs X-Factor being an imitation of Pop idol, and an imminent court action likely, a report is presented on the lack of copyrights for formats, and how unless there is a legal precedent, there is not much that broadcasters can do to protect copying by rival broadcasters.
