The opening ceremonies to the Olympic Games highlight several anomalies that are characteristic of the increasing globalization of sports through the media. From the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles through the 1994 Olympic Games in Lillehammer, the opening ceremonies give the host nation an opportunity to showcase local history and national pride.
