Subs overtake ads as TV's main earner

The subscription revenue has overtaken advertising revenue as the top source of earnings for the televisions. The [pounds sterling]3.202 billion subscription earnings have surpassed advertising at [pounds sterling]3.148 and licensing at [pounds sterling]2.233 billion for year 2003 and this trend has taken the industry by surprise as the shift was expected take place slowly over a long period of time.
