One year of Dyke's rule
Article Abstract:
Greg Dyke's first year as BBC director general has been a disappointment to independent producers and broadcasters. Measurable indicators of his management are not yet available, as the move of the Nine O'clock News to 22.00 has shown only short term success and his attempts to improve BBC 1 have not had enough time to develop.

A hard act to follow
Article Abstract:
Greg Dyke, who worked with the BBC for 30 years, received the Broadcasting Press Guild's Harvey Lee award at Theatre Royal for his outstanding broadcasting contribution. He feels that his leadership of the BBC was inspirational and that his successor will need to build on his creative legacy while addressing the issues raised by Hutton.
