TWI convergence venture launched

TWI is getting ready to launch what it says will be the world's first entirely converged broadcast and broadband service. Although details of the still unnamed venture have not been given, plans do call for TV channels and programs along with a number of interactive and internet-based initiatives with content reflecting TWI's expertise in sports programming and a majority of the content to be generated in-house.

Plans by BBC Technology to implement a new information management system across the corporation is likely to be approved after making a presentation to BBC managers. The technology that has developed uses digital information for tracking all TV and radio program ideas from the first commissioning up through reception in the home and includes every aspect of the production operation.
