Article Abstract:
The 60-minute programme 'Chippendales - A Secret History' produced by Kilroy Television for ITV contains previously unseen material detailing the life of Somen Banerjee. He founded the Chippendales in 1979, but committed suicide in prison in 1994 while awaiting sentence for the murder of business partner Nick De Noia. Producer Nick Aarons presented the basic story to the ITV Network Centre in Jan 1996, but was required to obtain original footage if the project was to go ahead. This proved very difficult. The programme was finally shot over 15 weeks at a cost of around 180,000 pounds sterling.

Making a dramatic impact
Article Abstract:
It is widely acknowledged in the UK television broadcasting industry that a successful drama director needs a combination of qualities which is not often found in one person. Drama directors must be prepared to take risks and to move into new territory, but must also ensure that they are not too unrealistic about their career progression. The best directors are those who can bring out the best in actors, have strong production management abilities and take a keen interest in writing.
