What does it taste like?
Article Abstract:
The predominance of state television or the absence of television in African countries leaves many Africans unable to opine on the wonders of television. Economic conditions in most countries have prevented the advent of independent television. Private radio and TV stations have been introduced in countries such as Nigeria, Kenya and Egypt. However, government intervention and fear of media being used for political and religious propaganda has prevented their diversification. M-Net, a South African media conglomerate, is one of the few alternatives to state run broadcasting in the continent.

Toward a national media policy
Article Abstract:
A discussion of the long-range influences of existing US national media policy proposes an approach to future developmental plans. The issues of equality and free expression are significant in establishing such policies and pose as difficulties for policymakers. Further, the rapid changes in the communications industry require separate legislations for complex and specific concerns which can sometimes be controversial.
