A letter from the Secretary of the Navy
Article Abstract:
The Chief of Naval Operations and Marine Corps Commandant were among the first to lobby for a considerable wage hike and the rollback of REDUX, which were granted by Congress. Furthermore, legislators also granted a bonus package that was especially valuable to the Navy/Marine Corp, and improvements in basic housing allowance. There are ongoing efforts to develop better ships with better propulsion systems, enhance fleet communications and connectivity, transit to integrated information systems, create revolutionary but workable warfare/defense concepts and professionalize the Navy/Marine Corps. These initiatives are all designed to create the world's best employer as well as its most relevant and dominant 21st century fighting force.

It's time to consolidate the 3043/3051/0411 MOSs, and restructure the 3010 community
Article Abstract:
Proposals have been made to consolidate military occupational specialties (MOSs) in the supply field and merge them with the maintenance management field. Furthermore, as a related initiative, the 3010 community comprising experienced ground supply operations officers ought to be restructured. This is because a cohesive team of well-trained supply Marines that are all working toward the same organizational objective is required for an effective, well-administered supply account. However, the existing, formal distinctions between the 3043 supply admin Marines, 3051 supply warehouse Marines and 0411 maintenance management clerks make for three separate camps whose members do not consider themselves as part of an overall team.

Fixing manpower
Article Abstract:
The US Marine Corps manpower has been inadequate because the Dept of Manpower and Reserve Affairs has failed often about 30% of its target. The manpower shortage can be attributed to four major causes, namely lack of Marines to fill 154,000 table of organization spaces in the Corps, short military occupational specialties, complicated manpower system and organizational design. To address these problems, the Corps should create a new manpower organization that adopts new operating philosophies.
