Russian president Vladimir Putin offered support to the US, following the 9/11/01 terrorist attacks. In many ways, US military entry into Afghanistan, to fight the Taliban and Al-Qqaeda networks, coincides with Russian aims. However, one of Russia's concerns is that the US may withdraw, leaving chaos behind.
