Additional Spanish Harriers for upgrade
Article Abstract:
Boeing Co has been awarded a contract to upgrade two of Spain's remaining EAV-8B Harrier attack aircraft to the Harrier II Plus configuration, which is designed for a wider range of missions in any weather conditions. The contract also includes an option for remanufacturing seven more aircraft into the Harrier II Plus configuration. The two upgraded aircraft, which are due in Jul 2003, will feature a new Rolls-Royce 408 engine, an APG radar and a forward looking infrared radar.

Italian admiral points to vulnerability of commercial ports to terrorism
Article Abstract:
Italian Rear Admiral, Giulio Cobolli informed the Maritime Systems and Technology conference in Genoa that the commercial ports of Italy are prone to terrorism due to insufficient protection. The Harbor Protection Trials 2006 of NATO has tested some autonomous underground vehicles for this purpose.

Illustrious embarks Italian and Spanish Harriers

Demonstrations of Italian and Spanish AV-8B Harriers held from aboard the U.K. aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious in naval exercises off Croatia heralded an enhanced co-operation among NATO member countries.
