Afloat prepositioning ship program
Article Abstract:
Afloat prepositioning force of the Military Sealift Command (MSC) came into existence in the year 1980 so as to improve the delivery response time of urgently needed equipment and other supplies for the United States armed forces. MSC's prepositioning program comprises of thirty-three strategically locations with military equipments and supplies for the United States armed forces and the Defense Logistics Agency.

The MRS-05 (Mobility Requirements 2005 Study, which included military and commercial sealift planning, is analyzed. Heavy lift development, and protection of all US naval and commercial shipping, are key elements.
