Air refueling is the key to Hawkeye transformation
Article Abstract:
The US Navy (USN) plans for air-to-air refueling (AAR) trials of a Northrop Grumman E-2C Hawkeye in October 2004, which is expected to double the aircraft's time on-station to eight hours. The E-2E advanced Hawkeye is an improved radar arising from the Radar Modernization Program, which allows the aircraft to address emerging threats, including detection of cruise missiles and ballistic missile defense.
