Article Abstract:
An article written by two artillery commanders in a 1996 issue of the Marine Corps Gazette suggested changes in artillery tactics and in the command structure of artillery units. The idea was not used then, but it still remains a good suggestion for today's artillery forces.

Carlson's raid on Makin Island
Article Abstract:
An August, 1942, raid on Makin Island by two companies of a Marine raider battalion , was a key element in the eventual US victory in the Pacific. The raid was led by Lieutenant Colonel Evan S.Carlson. Carlson's career, and the Makin Island raid are described.

Leveraging Marine Corps experience
Article Abstract:
The Marine Corps needs a method for collecting and utilizing the valuable experience and ideas of its retiring officers and noncommissioned officers. It is suggested that the retirees be given a form on which to submit comments and recommendations.
