Base and station regionalization
Article Abstract:
The Marines are often under pressure to innovate and overcome the asymmetrical warfare tactics of the terrorist enemies and also the bases and stations, the fifth element of the Marine air-ground task force (MAGTF), back on friendly soil must transform to provide total support for the Operating Forces. Regionalization provides the broad leadership and management leverage necessary to achieve the vision while preserving scarce resources needed to remain the world's premier expeditionary force.

Counterintelligence/human intelligence
Article Abstract:
During the Operation Iraqi Freedom II (OIF II) infantry battalions were provided counterintelligence/human intelligence support from Marine expeditionary force (MEF) assets called HumInt exploitation teams (HETs). HETs help to destroy enemy infrastructure and reduce the enemy's ability to attack.
