Bridging for the millenium
Article Abstract:
In the US, military bridging programs include the Army's efforts to develop a new armored bridge layer to take the place of Military Load Class (MLC) 60 Armored Vehicle Launched Bridges (AVLBs) on M-48 and M-60 chassis. However, there has been slow development towards this goal. Since 1981, the Heavy Assault Bridge (HAB) program has experienced two false starts. Meanwhile, the WOLVERINE HAB is proceeding with its development by General Dynamics Land Systems Division based upon the modified chassis of the M-1 ABRAMS MBT.

Navigation/targeting pods go from strength to strength
Article Abstract:
Navigation/targeting pods boost the all-weather ground attack capabilities of existing combat aircraft. Thus, the pods offer a less expensive mode of retrolift/upgrade compared to new procurement programs. Among the leading products in the market are Lockheed Martin Electronics and Missiles' Low Altitude Navigation and Targeting Infra-Red for Night two-pod system, Dassault Aviation's RUBIS navigation/attack system, Thomson-CSF's Convertible Laser Designator Pod system and Rafael's LITENING pod.
