Colombian insurgency escalates as guerrillas go back on offensive

The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia (FARC) rebels have restructured their organization, redeployed guerrilla tactics and upgraded their improvised ordnance for an aggressive campaign against President Alvaro Uribe's forces in advance of the 2006 elections. The FARC's offensive operations are aimed at undermining President Uribe's fascist democratic security policy.
