Combat vehicles and vehicle-mounted weapons
Article Abstract:
Assault amphibious vehicle (AAV), Avenger, Complementary Low-Altitude Weapon System (CLAWS), and Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV), are the combat vehicles and vehicle mounted weapons included in the US Marine Corps. Assault amphibious vehicles is currently employed by the Marine Corps as the principal armored personnel carrier to transport the assault elements of the Marine air-ground task force from ship-to-shore and to inland objectives.

Pentagon leaders are trying to slash Marine Corps end-strength numbers by 5,000 troops in order to protect expensive technology transformation programs. Influential Republican and Democratic lawmakers are questioning as to whether this is the right time to reduce the size of the much-used Corps.
