Army soldiers are executing America's national security strategy in the homeland as well as in the far reaches of the globe with 365,000 soldiers being forward stationed or forward deployed in 120 different countries. For 228 years, the Army has stood in the defense of freedom and the American way of life and it has a nonnegotiable contract with the people of the US to fight and win the nation's wars.

New threats, evolving technologies and a diverse range of missions in joint, interagency and multinational coalitions are continuously confronted during the warfare. In this changing environment sustaining the war fighter requires a commensurate logistics transformation if the Army is to remain relevant.
