Developing fledgling Iraqi headquarters: A MiTT perspective during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM 5-7
Article Abstract:
A brigade-level military transition team's (MiTT) campaign, called the Optics Campaign, is discussed to assess an Iraqi brigade headquarters (BDE HQ) and transition it from a newly formed HQ into one that is capable of conducting partnered counterinsurgency (COIN) operations. A baseline plan, consisting of four phases of the campaign, is provided that would enable the MiTT to render the HQ comprising of an Iraqi Army (IA) unit into an operational one.

Operation Iraqi Freedom lessons learned
Article Abstract:
The lessons learnt from Operation Iraqi Freedom II (OIF II) operations, which have been characterized by a wide change in missions and responsibilities as compared to OIF I, are described. Marines have been continuously engaged in stability and support operations (SASO) requiring unremitting engagement with insurgent and terrorist factions and they are continuously learning and reconfirming lessons that are relevant to SASO.
