Efforts to counter the IED threat
Article Abstract:
A group from the Expeditionary Force Development Center (EFDC) and several part-time members are focusing on the formation of improvised explosive devices (IED) countermeasures either using technology or using modification to tactics, techniques and procedures (TTP). This provides a central focus to Marine Corps efforts to defeat the IED threat and to facilitate the development and implementation of joint and Marine Corps-specific solutions.

The unique features of the AC-130U gunship and its advantages over other fixed- and rotary-wing close air support (CAS) platform assets are discussed. Accurate, sustained firepower, continuous target area observation, sensor advantage and simplicity of control are some of the features of that can be used to enhance the Marine Corps' future warfighting capability.

Building a better mousetrap
Article Abstract:
The expeditionary fighting vehicle (EFV) in a phenomenal leap ahead of the current assault amphibious vehicle (AAV) and it provides greatly enhanced battlefield capabilities to the Marine Corps. The most touted advancement of the EFV, the high-water-speed capability, will prove an unnecessary and costly distraction throughout the service life of EFV.
