Emergency response to catastrophic terrorism
Article Abstract:
The catastrophic scale of efforts which has to be produced for the emergency responders to prevent or mitigate terrorist use of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or high explosive (CBRNE) devices is presented. In addition to the specifics of CBRNE devices and emerging threats, responders need to be prepared to deal with the catastrophic scale of effects that the threats may produce.

The improvised explosive devices (IEDs) which have become the preferred tool for terrorist organizations is linked with the CBRNE, thus being a threat to CBRNE. The first responders and EOD team are working hard to see that evolution and improvement of their training, equipment and procedures is sure to help in meeting the increasing CBRNE threat.

International terrorism is increasingly recognized as a threat to U.S. foreign and domestic security, with particular emphasis on certain radical groups' aim to overthrow secular or Western-allied regimes. The U.S. response to combat these threats through diplomacy, international cooperation, and military force are analyzed and discussed.
