French Army foresees urban environment for modified armoured fighting vehicles
Article Abstract:
Three French Army armoured fighting vehicles (AFVs) are modified in 2006 by industry for use in an urban environment, reflecting the unsuitability of the currently deployed AFVs for urban operations by French peacekeeping forces. The Leclerc main battle tank (MBT), modified for urban operations and known as Leclerc AZUR, an upgraded VBL 4 by 4 scout car, and a modified VAB light armoured vehicle demonstrate the improvements in the AFVs for enhanced capability in urban areas.
